Emerging in Spring, the Diana Fritillary larvae feed on violet leaves, throughout the Arkansas River Valley and Southern Appalachia. Dark blue, dusty winged females and burnt orange colored males grace woodlands and meadows by June. Our Butterfly earrings are finished with pure tung oil and hang on surgical stainless steel and wires.

Forestique - Diana Fritillary Butterfly - African Mahogany
Henry Wischusen is the artist behind Forestique. Having grown up around a tradition of wood working, he crafted many items in he youth, from tiny statues to boats! Wischusen naturally returned to this passion later in life. He says this of working with wood: "Working with delicate wood veneers, I am able to present all the beauty of the wood while maintaining my reverence to the forest."
All of the woods used by Forestique are their natural color. No dye stains or chemicals are used in finishing their products. The finish is three hand rubbed coats of pure organic Tung oil. They combine the Tung oil with all natural citrus terpine to assist the oil in penetrating the wood.
